Gambling Treatment Supervisory Program

Clinical supervision for professionals treating individuals impacted by gambling-related harm.

The Gambling Treatment Supervisory Program supports clinicians who need gambling-specific clinical supervision but don't have access to a qualified supervisor within their agency or community. Whether you're working toward your Preliminary Gambling Endorsement (GAMBp) or Renewable Gambling Endorsement (GAMB) through the Ohio Chemical Dependency Professionals (OCDP) Board, or you're licensed through the Ohio Counselor, Social Worker, and Marriage and Family Therapist (CSWMFT) Board seeking specialized supervision, this program provides the guidance and support you need to build competency in gambling treatment.

Cost

There is no cost to participate. Thanks to grant funding through the Ohio Department of Behavioral Health, eligible Ohio clinicians can access both group and individual gambling-specific clinical supervision at no charge.

Who is this program for?

This program is for Ohio behavioral health professionals who are interested in developing competency in treating individuals impacted by gambling-related harm, don't have access to a qualified gambling-specific clinical supervisor within their agency or community, and are actively providing services to individuals experiencing gambling-related harm. How the program works

Complete the Gambling Treatment Supervision Interest Form to be added to PGNO’s supervision outreach list. Zoom scheduling links will be sent out monthly and can be scheduled based on your needs and availability.

Group Supervision

Group supervision is offered twice each month via Zoom, with:


  • One morning session
  • One afternoon session


Each session is limited to 8 participants to encourage discussion, case consultation, and individualized feedback. Clinicians may register for the session that best fits their schedule.


Individual supervision

In addition to group supervision, clinicians may schedule 30-minute individual supervision sessions based on their needs each month.

The Gambling Treatment Supervisory Program supports clinicians to:

  • Receive gambling-specific clinical supervision from a qualified supervisor.
  • Build confidence and clinical competence in treating gambling-related harm.
  • Strengthen assessment, treatment planning, and intervention skills through case consultation and discussion.
  • If required by their licensing board, complete the supervised clinical experience required to progress from a Preliminary Gambling Endorsement to a Renewable Gambling Endorsement through the OCDP Board, including 100 hours of direct gambling treatment experience.

Program Eligibility

To participate, you must:


  • Be licensed as an LCDC II, LCDC III, LICDC, or LICDC-CS, or be licensed through the CSWMFT Board.
  • Have completed 30 hours of gambling-specific education.
  • Be working toward a Preliminary or Renewable  Gambling Endorsement through the OCDP Board, or be licensed through the CSWMFT Board and seeking gambling-specific clinical supervision to strengthen your competency in treating gambling-related harm.
  • Have agency and supervisor support to obtain gambling-related clinical experience through activities such as screening, assessment, psychoeducation, case consultation, or treatment.
  • Be actively working with individuals experiencing gambling-related harm and prepared to discuss clinical cases or questions during supervision.

Program Eligibility

In order to be eligible for this program, you must:

  • Be a licensed LCDC-II, LCDC-III, LICDC, or LICDC-CS.
  • Have completed 30 hours of gambling-specific education that meets the educational requirements through the OCDP Board for a GAMBp.
  • Not have a supervisor within your agency that is able to provide you with gambling-specific supervision. 
  • Have support from your agency and supervisor to obtain gambling-related contact hours, through tasks such as gambling-specific screenings, assessments, education within group settings, and/or treatment.
  • Be able to commit to the three group supervision meetings held monthly.
  • Be able to commit to at least three monthly 30-minute individual supervision meetings that may continue until you have received your Renewable GAMB.
