Fellowship Overview

The Ohio Problem Gambling Clinical Fellowship is a year-long professional development initiative that enhances a clinicians skills to provide specialized gambling disorder treatment services. The Fellowship enhances clinical efficacy, integrates gambling-specific interventions within private practices and community agencies, and contributes to the professionalization of Ohio’s behavioral health workforce. Through comprehensive training, case conceptualization, and mentorship, Fellows will develop expertise in screening, assessment, treatment, and advocacy for individuals affected by gambling. The Fellowship concludes with an oral case presentation, demonstrating competency and innovative contributions to the field.

The Fellowship addresses a critical gap in behavioral health services by developing a specialized workforce equipped to treat individuals with gambling disorder—an often under-recognized and under-treated condition. Despite increasing awareness of gambling-related harms, many clinicians lack the formal training necessary to assess and intervene effectively. This Fellowship offers comprehensive, evidence-based professional development, including advanced training, mentorship, and hands-on case consultation, to ensure participants acquire the skills necessary to integrate gambling disorder services into both private and community practice settings.
