Schedule: This virtual training will run on October 9, 2026 from 9 AM to 12:15 PM EST and will include a 15-minute break. It will consist of 3 total hours of content.

Course description: The Ohio Chemical Dependency Professionals Board has a Code of Ethics for Prevention Professionals as well as a Prevention Scope of Practice, which are different from other disciplines. This training will review, discuss, and apply the requirements in order to ensure prevention practitioners are operating within the guidelines. 

 

Please note: this training will meet the requirement for those interested in pursuing an OCPSA certification, or for those renewing an OCPSA, OCPS, OCPC certification. For those interested in obtaining an OCPS or OCPC designation, 6.0 contact hours of ethics is required.

 

Course Objectives: 

  1. Be knowledgeable about the Ohio’s Code of Ethics for Prevention Professionals
  2. Have a process for determining whether actions are ethical
  3. Know where and how to report unethical actions

 

Presenters: Claire Spada, OCPC

Claire is the Deputy Director of the Problem Gambling Network of Ohio (PGNO). She has over 15 years of experience working in the prevention field in varying capacities and is an Ohio Certified Prevention Consultant. She has a passion for educating others on issues that can greatly impact their lives, including drug, alcohol, and gambling prevention, coping with emotions in a positive way, and empowering young people in leadership roles. In her current role, Claire drives organizational strategy, budgeting, and operational decisions, and oversees program management, staff supervision, and grant and contract compliance across PGNO's statewide initiatives.
