Case Presentation: Recovery After Recurrence will take place on Tuesday, September 30th, 2025 from 12:30 PM - 1:30 PM.
This case presentation explores the clinical journey of a client diagnosed with Gambling Disorder who experienced a recurrence of gambling behaviors following a sustained period of abstinence. The case highlights key psychosocial factors contributing to the recurrence, including stressors, triggers, and coping mechanisms. It examines the therapeutic interventions used during services, and the client’s return to remission following a period of active gambling. The presentation emphasizes the importance of recurrence planning, therapeutic alliance, and adaptive coping strategies in the long-term management of gambling disorder. Implications for clinical practice, including the need for continued monitoring and support during remission phases, are discussed.

Presenter: Jesse Wodrig, MBA, LCDCIII-GAMB, OCPSA
Jesse is the Director of Clinical Programs for PGNO. Jesse has worked in the treatment services field for 10 years primarily working with clients living with substance use disorders. He has both direct service and administrative experience in this field. Starting in 2020, he started trainings to build competency to assist clients living with gambling disorders, and this has become his primary professional interest. As the Director of Clinical Programs, Jesse heads efforts to connect clients to telehealth services for assistance in treating gambling disorders while also facilitating occasional trainings.
