Stage I: Gambling, Problem Gambling, and Ohio's Service System

Schedule: This virtual training will run on Wednesday, July 30th - Friday, August 1st. Each day the session will run from 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM EST, with a 1-hour break from 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM. All three days will have 4 hours of content, totaling 12 hours.

 

Course Description: Stage I provides 12 continuing education hours of gambling specific education that will increase participants’ knowledge and understanding of the current climate of gambling and gambling expansion, problem gambling risks and warning signs, at-risk populations and co-morbidities of problem gambling with substance abuse and mental illness.

Continuing Education:
12.0 CEUs are available for this training which can be used toward obtaining the GAMB Endorsement through the Ohio Chemical Dependency Board or towards becoming a counselor qualified to treat gambling disorder through the Ohio Social Worker, Counselor, and Marriage & Family Therapist Board.

 

Problem Gambling Network of Ohio is an approved continuing education provider through the Ohio Chemical Dependency Professionals Board, the Ohio Counselor, Social Work, and Marriage & Family Therapist Board, and the International Problem Gambling and Gaming Certification Organization.

Lead Trainers: Claire Spada, OCPC, ICPS & Olivia Burris CDCA

Claire Spada is the Director of Workforce Development for PGNO. She has over 15 years of experience working in the prevention field in varying capacities and is an Ohio Certified Prevention Consultant. She has a passion for educating others on issues that can greatly impact their lives including drug, alcohol, and gambling prevention, coping with emotions in a positive way, and empowering young people in leadership roles. In her current role, Claire provides gambling funds guidance and support for Boards and Providers, oversees PGNO education and trainings, and manages community prevention programming.

 

Olivia Burris is the Intake Coordinator for Ohio Gambling Telehealth Network. She helps clients navigate the gambling support service system and connects them with local resources. She is passionate about helping those in need in her personal and professional life and spends time volunteering with individuals in recovery from substance use.
