Gambling Disorder has the highest rate of suicide attempt among all addictions. Stemming from variables such as financial loss, unemployment, depression/anxiety and loss of relationships often leads individuals affected with disordered gambling to believe there is no other way out. Understanding this correlation, building skills in assessing lethality and increasing comfort in having these difficult conversations is crucial in the assessment and treatment of gambling disorder.

- Participants will hear up-to-date statistics on problem gambling in Ohio and current trends in gambling behavior
- Participants will learn about the correlation between gambling disorder and suicide ideation and attempt
- Participants will learn why lethality must be assessed when speaking to problem gamblers and discuss strategies in having these conversations
All home studies offer one credit of continuing education through the Ohio Counselor, Social Work and Marriage Family Therapist Board, the Ohio Chemical Dependency Board and the National Council on Problem Gambling. Credits are provided after a post-test and evaluation are completed.
