Ethics for Prevention Professionals

In this training participants will discuss basic ethical theory and gain a sense of what drives personal and professional behavior. Participants will review and discuss the Ohio Chemical Dependency Professionals Board requirements and Code of Ethics for Prevention Professionals. We will look at a number of real life scenarios that prevention professionals may find themselves in and discuss in small groups what the appropriate action to take may be. This training will also discuss Social Media Ethics in today's culture and setting appropriate boundaries. Lastly, participants will discuss easy to follow guidelines for personal and professional decision making.

Objectives:

  • Introduction to Ethics and basic theory.
  • Increase participant understanding of the OCDP Board requirements and Code of Ethics.
  • Discuss why ethical practice is crucial for prevention work and how it establishes trust for potential future encounters in the treatment and recovery processes.
  • Develop guidelines for personal and professional decision making.

This training is approved for 3 CEUs through the Ohio Chemical Dependency Professionals Board, Ohio Counselor, Social Worker and Marriage Family Therapist Board and the National Council on Problem Gambling. This training meets the requirements for the Domain VI: Professional Growth & Responsibility for OCPSA/OCPS.
